Oh My!

There are times I watch Ava and wonder what kind of monster we have created…such as this particular night when she crawls up beside me and has on her Minnie Mouse ears and sunglasses….oh and in case you missed it- it was NIGHT! She laid right there and watched TV with us with this ensemble on….

Oh my! She is such a diva and must ALWAYS have her glasses on when we are in the car, but needing them on at night while watching tv, well that’s a new one!

Evening at the Beach

I picked Ava up from Mom’s after work and she immediately asked if we could go to the beach- and I’m not exactly sure what prompted it, but it was a nice evening so I told her we would go when Daddy got home.

Let me tell you, this child doesn’t forget, as soon as her daddy walked in the door she said Beach!!! so we loaded up and went, she had so much fun just playing with her bucket and shovel and building a sand castle. She didn’t want to leave when it got dark. Adam and I aren’t huge beach lovers, we don’t like the mess that comes with it, but Ava loves it and I’m glad we went, she had a great time and truth be told it was a nice relaxing evening for just the 3 of us.

The Hottest Game EVER

Some friends of ours came up for the weekend and spent some time with us. We don’t get to see them very often ( I think it usually ends up being about once a year), so we really enjoy spending time with them when we can. Joshnjewey (as Ava pronounces it-all one word- because you can’t have Josh without Julie- haha!)

We went out to eat and to the Jag’s game on Sunday. It was the home opener for the Jags and a record breaking game for the hottest game in franchise history. The kickoff temperature was like 95 degrees, and kickoff was at 1:00, so it only got hotter.

I’m not sure why I am going to show these next pictures, other than to prove a point and also remind Adam what I sat through….because it is certainly not for any dignity points!

At one point during the game it started to rain, well I don’t know that a single fan minded after sitting in the heat, however, it started to lightining, so they stopped the game and everyone had to go in, we sit like 15 rows from the field, so it was easier for us to go underneath the stadium that up and into the concourse. Ava had fallen asleep at this point and we were able to find a seat so I didn’t have to stand holding her the entire time.

Oh, I should also mention that they had sold out of water at the stadium and they were bringing truckloads in from Winn Dixie and when Adam went back to get me a water after the first unsuccessful attempt, they were out of cups of ice (since the water hadn’t been chilled), it was crazy!

You are probably wondering what mother brings her 2 year old to something this hot….ME! Actually, Ava was quite comfortable, she had a little fan/mister that we kept on her the entire time and she never got that hot, she was definitely warm, but she had it made, compared to the rest of us.

All that to say this is why I looked so nasty, and why I was covered in sweat….I will say, we made some memories….but I was never happier to get a shower and some cool water. Oh and everyone else at the stadium looked like this as well, so I didn’t feel as out of place :)

Painting with our fingers!

For Ava’s birthday her Aunt Stacey bought her some finger paints and I decided to let her open some and make a mess paint. She had so much fun, but took her a while to actually get her hand all in it, she didn’t want the paint on her hand- it was funny, but after I explained I would clean her afterwards, she started to really get messy.

I had seen where someone else had used a canvas to let their child finger paint on and I thought it was such a good idea, so I only let her use the red this particular day and once it dried I would let her paint another color, this way they didn’t all mix together make an ugly color!

Visiting Memaw

I’m surprised the privilege of having a blog hasn’t been taken from me since it has been almost 3 months since I have posted!! Life has just been busy and the little bit of free time that I have, I haven’t wanted to spend tied to a computer…..

So, I’m going to attempt to try and catch up to present day as quickly as possible

Many times while I’m working, Mom and/or Nana will take Ava to visit Memaw, I am so grateful they do. This particular time they hung out in Memaw’s bedroom and watched the Disney channel together (notice the pillow in the background- maybe she won’t forget who Ava is, since she has her face plastered on a pillow- haha!)IMG_8183

After a little while, Ava decided she wanted to take Memaw’s wheels for a spin, and by wheels I mean wheelchair and by spin, I mean sit on it ;)

Oh, and for the record- my child did not leave me barefoot- that must have happened under the grandmothers’ watch…..
