The Hottest Game EVER

 

Some friends of ours came up for the weekend and spent some time with us. We don’t get to see them very often ( I think it usually ends up being about once a year), so we really enjoy spending time with them when we can. Joshnjewey (as Ava pronounces it-all one word- because you can’t have Josh without Julie- haha!)

We went out to eat and to the Jag’s game on Sunday. It was the home opener for the Jags and a record breaking game for the hottest game in franchise history. The kickoff temperature was like 95 degrees, and kickoff was at 1:00, so it only got hotter.

I’m not sure why I am going to show these next pictures, other than to prove a point and also remind Adam what I sat through….because it is certainly not for any dignity points! 

At one point during the game it started to rain, well I don’t know that a single fan minded after sitting in the heat, however, it started to lightining, so they stopped the game and everyone had to go in, we sit like 15 rows from the field, so it was easier for us to go underneath the stadium that up and into the concourse. Ava had fallen asleep at this point and we were able to find a seat so I didn’t have to stand holding her the entire time.

Oh, I should also mention that they had sold out of water at the stadium and they were bringing truckloads in from Winn Dixie and when Adam went back to get me a water after the first unsuccessful attempt, they were out of cups of ice (since the water hadn’t been chilled), it was crazy!

You are probably wondering what mother brings her 2 year old to something this hot….ME! Actually, Ava was quite comfortable, she had a little fan/mister that we kept on her the entire time and she never got that hot, she was definitely warm, but she had it made, compared to the rest of us.

All that to say this is why I looked so nasty, and why I was covered in sweat….I will say, we made some memories….but I was never happier to get a shower and some cool water. Oh and everyone else at the stadium looked like this as well, so I didn’t feel as out of place :)
