3rd OB Appointment

Adam and I went in for our 3rd OB visit. This visit was basically just a check up. I have lost a 1.5 pounds since my last visit 4 weeks ago. Which is fine by me, since that means less to loose later on, however, it also means I am still having extreme morning sickness. I think I would rather have the weight gain than what I am going thru! We did get to hear the heartbeat. It rang in at 154 beats per minute, which Dr. Long said if I believe in all the old wives tales, its a girl.....not that we do, but its fun to see what the signs say :) I also have to go in for a blood sugar test because they found some protein and sugar in my urine. This "could" mean I have gestational diabetes, however, I don't believe I do, I haven't been able to eat anything that would cause my blood sugar to change, matter of fact, I have eaten much of anything at all! Its basically just precautionary. So....the end result, everything looks good and I go back in 6 weeks to find out what we are having, I can finally stop calling "it" an "it".

Enough Said!

Pregnancy Questions and Answers

A: No, 35 children is enough.

A: With any luck, right after he finishes college.

Q: What is the most reliable method to determine a baby's sex?
A: Childbirth.

Q: My childbirth instructor says it's not pain I'll feel during labor, but pressure. Is she right?
A: Yes, in the same way that a tornado might be called an air current.

Q: When is the best time to get an epidural?
A: Right after you find out you're pregnant.

Q: Is there any reason I have to be in the delivery room while my wife is in labor?
A: Not unless the word "alimony" means anything to you.

Q: Is there anything I should avoid while recovering from childbirth?
A: Yes, pregnancy.

Q: Do I have to have a baby shower?
A: Not if you change the baby's diaper very quickly.

Q: Our baby was born last week. When will my wife begin to feel and act normal again?
A: When the kids are in college.

Finding the Funny

When you are pregnant and experiencing every single one of life's unpleasantries it helps to find some humor in things. I found this cartoon and thought it was perfect. Just remember this the next time you ask me how I am feeling..... :)

The Little Peanut!

Well, today Adam and I took one of the many memorable trips we will be taking to the Doctor's office. We went for our first Ultrasound! It was exciting to say the least and a moment I would most certainly describe as magical. We saw the little heart beating, fluttering just as fast as it could. The nurse told us it was measuring at 162 beats per minute which is right on track. The baby measured 9 weeks 5 days so puts my due date back one day to October 1st. While we were viewing the ultrasound the baby started to squirm and you could see the tiny hands and feet just a moving. I said it must be a girl trying to get away from the "camera" but Brian says the baby was playing air guitar. :) Adam was a little teary-eyed as he watched the ultrasound, very sweet! The nurse made us a tape of the ultrasound, which is believe at this point in my life is the most precious thing I own. We went and made the rounds to show the grandparents to-be the video and of course everyone is a little more excited than they were before. The next visit, March 31st, we will hear the heartbeat. Which we probably could have done at this visit, but sometimes the baby is in a position that it makes it hard to hear so early and the moms tend to do what they do best.....worry. So that will be the exciting moment of the next visit and then 4 weeks after that is the Truth telling visit. We will have our 2nd ultrasound and see what the baby is. I can't wait!
