Birthday Cake for Jesus

Because I work on Christmas Eve and after work our schedule is way too busy to add anything to it, Ava and I decided to make Baby Jesus’ birthday cake a few days early.

Ava has really gotten into the whole baking thing, especially when its things she can eat along the way….(she must have gotten that from me!) Each time we bake something I can tell she has gotten better about how to do each step. Her favorite things are to stir and add eggs.

We made a simple box cake, the funfetti one, you know the one with all the colors in the cake mix. It was always my favorite cake growing up.

After baking and letting the cake cool, I had Ava come help me add the icing and sprinkles. Pictures will be my proof that I think she added every kind and color of sprinkles there are as well as an entire can of red……the perfectionist in me kept wanting to scream, but the mommy in me thoroughly enjoyed seeing how much fun she was having. Needless to say, the mommy side won. :)

    

As I was adding the decorative frosting she kept licking it, thank goodness Adam and Ava (mostly Adam) were the only ones to taste this masterpiece :)

The birthday cake for Baby Jesus was a hit and I think it really help Ava understand a little more about Christmas. Especially since we KNOW she understands birthdays, ‘Happy Cake’ as she will say!
