Fort Clinch

One Saturday in February it was a beautiful day and we wanted to take advantage of it. We packed a picnic lunch and headed to Fernandina Beach. We decided to take Ava to Fort Clinch. We had ridden jet skis over near it and showed it to her from the water, so we thought it would be fun to take her inside. We enjoyed a picnic and she played on the playground for a little while and then we headed over to the fort itself.



 



 



While we were there the coast guard/military must have been running drills they kept flying and riding around back and forth then circling and doing it all over again.





We spent some time walking around the grounds, we started with the upper portion where all the cannons are situated.





 



 



Then we made our way down and walked through all the buildings. We did come across someone who was giving a tour and listened in for a little while and then continued on.

We saw this wash room and Ava was baffled by what this was, she couldn’t believe people used to wash their clothes this way- haha!

It was such a nice day, we finished out the rest of the fort and headed into to town to run a few errands and called it a day- a perfect day with my family!
