Air Show

 

We went to the annual NAS Jax Air Show, but we decided to watch it from the water instead of fighting the crowds to get into the base. I had been to an air show a long long time ago, but Adam hadn’t ever been and with his love of planes and flying I knew he would enjoy it. They usually fell on a weekend that we were already busy, but this year we made it a priority to see it.

We packed lunches, snacks, and drinks and loaded them up in Adam’s dad’s boat and headed out. The show started at 10 and I think we anchored the boat at 10:30.

Of course there were a lot of planes, but the main attraction were the Blue Angels that started their show about 3:00. I’m so glad we ended up watching it from the water- it made everything so much easier, especially when Ava decided to take a nap- we just laid her down. Although I’m surprised she was able to sleep at all since it was pretty noisy.

Ava seemed to like the planes because she kept saying “Faster planes, faster!” lol I was kind of worried about the noise and it scaring her, we even brought my headphones that would keep the loud noises out, but she did great. We did warn her whenever there was about to be a loud plane, just so she was prepared, but she didn’t seem to get scared.

The water wasn’t super smooth, I should have packed some Dramamine because after sitting out there rocking back and forth for a little while I wasn’t feeling so hot, but I made the best of it and we ended up having a good time, even if Adam did splash me pretty good with a wave when we were leaving….

 

We had a good time and we both agreed that this was the best way to watch it, especially after we heard from a friend how long it took them to get into the base. I had even packed a few things for Ava to play with in case she got bored, it was nice to have them just in case, but she didn’t need them.

Adam was definitely impressed and wants to go back, I’m glad we finally made it after so many years of talking about it. We learned a lot that we would do different the next time, but doesn’t everyone learn a lot after their first go at something?!
