Happy 96th to Memaw!

IMG_8233

Memaw turned 96 years old on October 10th, 2010 our whole family went over to celebrate with her Sunday after church.

She has 3 daughters, 8 grandkids (plus spouses), 19 great-grandkids (plus Adam since I’m the only one married –haha!), and now 3 great-great grandkids! She has definitely left a legacy.

Ava, I’ll be quite honest was most excited about the cake :) The lady sitting next to Memaw is her best friend, who is also 96 years old, her name is Zulu.

Being 96, you aren’t ever sure if you will have another chance to take photos, so we used this time wisely.

Here is a picture of her 3 great-great-grandkids, Ava, Raeleigh, and Caden

We also took a picture of my grandmother’s part of the lineage (except for my family who was out of town, so this is partially complete)

Memaw and her husband, Grandaddy (who I never met) started the store July 5th, 1945 and so it has been in my blood for a long long long time (65 years this year). My Grandaddy used to work for the railroad, and his family was very influential in the railroad industry in Callahan, however, it kept him travelling a lot and he didn’t like being away from home that often. So, they started the store and that’s how my family become involved in the hardware business.

Now, 5 generations later, Ava enjoys going to that same store just as much as Memaw did.
