Zoo Time

IMG_8287

Since Ava had done so great at the wedding and I just felt like we had absolutely tortured her to act so grown up the entire day, I told her we would take her to the zoo the following day so she could act her age :)

It had been a long while since we last went and I was anxious to see the difference in how she acted toward the animals. She absolutely loved it- we saw elephants splashing themselves with water, which she just thought was the funniest thing. We saw monkeys playing and jumping and we even saw one asking some of the people for food, unreal.

Ava fed the giraffe, but once it’s long tongue started to get close, she left it up to mommy.

*Funny story, Adam was taking pictures while we were feeding the giraffes and knocked his sunglasses off and into the giraffe pen. They had to get one of the workers to get in there and get them- haha! It was so funny but they were returned in perfect shape, so no harm done.

It was really crowded, but it probably had a lot to do with the fact it was finally cool enough you wouldn’t die walking around from the heat. Ava still had a great time and we bought annual passes so we could go more often.

Ava had been wanting to ride the train the entire time, so right before we left we were going to take her. Would you believe it if I told you that we traveled not even halfway and the train derailed? We all had to get off and walk through the woods to get back to the paved walkways and they had to get a forklift looking bobcat to lift it back on the track.

After they got it back on the track, it derailed again after traveling about another 10 feet. We couldn’t believe it. So Ava only got to take part of a train ride, but we told her we would bring her back soon to ride again.
