North Carolina: Day 1

Wednesday morning, June 12th, we loaded up and headed North with my parents and Jenny, Jason, and the boys in tow. We hadn’t told Ava the boys were coming so she was surprised that morning when she found out they were joining. Good thing we waited to tell her, she was so anxious waiting on them to get to the house!

After a llllooonnnggg drive, with a stop at Chic-fil-a to let the kids play and get some energy out, we finally made it to Boone, to my grandparents house. I think all the kids did well on the trip, it helps to have endless amounts of technology the entertain them… We did play some Road Trip Bingo with Ava and she napped, and of course some movies- whatever it takes!



Big Papa hadn’t made it home from work, but when he did, he came in bearing gifts (like usual). The kids were decked out in App State gear from head to toe!



Since Jenny and Jason hadn’t ever been up to this area before, Big Papa took them to App State’s football stadium and gave them a grand tour of the facility. We took their picture in front of the locker that Big Papa bought. Ava took a picture in this same place a couple of years ago.



 

My child is a different person when she is with these boys! I have no words for what she is doing…that happened a lot throughout this trip!





As with any major football facility- it was teeming with ‘cool’ things they enjoyed looking at (and touching! ha!) And of course, my dear hubby just can’t be outdone………..



They all decided this would be a great place to watch an action movie!

Then we made it out onto the football field and these three ran and ran and ran to their little hearts content- the perfect thing to do after driving all day! The 2 big boys also ran (ahem, Jason and Adam) and apparently, what happens on family trips to Boone, stays in Boone. Although Jenny has video proof, so no one had better get on her bad side!



We stopped by Big Papa’s office to get a picture with him… just kidding, it’s the cardboard cut out they used for his 80th birthday! I guess he has decided if something ever happens he will put this in their house to keep other guys from coming after Grammy



 

After the tour, running on the football field, and dinner, these three laid down to watch a movie and then we all headed to bed. We were so glad to be on vacation!
