Shootin’ Her New Pink Gun

If you will recall, Ava received a pink BB gun for her birthday from my parents. It was actually really funny becuase a couple months earlier, Adam and my dad were in his office and Ava walked in and saw the pink bb gun in a box. She confindently walked over to it, grabbed it, and started to walk away with it. Both Dad and Adam started laughing and told her to put it back, it wasn't her gun. At the time, it really wasn't her gun, but that ended up being the only one like that, that dad was able to get, so he decided to give it to her.



Well, finally, one afternoon it wasn't raining and it wasn't overly hot, so Adam decided it would be a good time to let Ava shoot it...however, not before going over a strict list of rules!



He tried it out first to make sure everything worked fine, apparently she thought it was going to be loud...boy was that a disappointment! :)



Finally it was Ava's turn. She put on her glasses and sat in between her daddy's legs.



She had the whole 'how to shoot the gun' down pat, and she could aim in the general direction, but we are going to have to work on aiming through the sight.



It is also a good thing that she isn't strong enough to pump the gun, so we don't have to worry about her trying to do it without us. Adam pretty much let her do it by herself and just simply guided her. He wants to be sure she understands how to hold a gun, how to carry a gun, guns are never toys, they can hurt people and things, never walk in front of a gun...it was a good lesson for her. Of course, some of you may remember what happened while I was out shopping last Black Friday...(scroll down for the pictures).



After each shot she would run  up to the pie pan and see if she had hit it. I don't know that she ever did, but her mama and daddy had a few rounds of competition, and her mama just about beat her daddy, but the very last shot, he pulled through. Of course it didn't help me that the pie plate, which was tied to a swing kept blowing around- its amazing that it was perfectly still for Adam when he shot :)



She was so proud of herself and even moreso of the fact that she now has her very own gun. The fact that it is pink is just a bonus. :)
