Ava’s 4-year Well Check

IMG_1594

Ava had her 4 year well-check. I had prepared her ahead of time that she would get shots and that it would probably hurt but it would only hurt for a minute- she seemed okay, but the closer it got to the actual shot time the more nervous she seemed to get. She still did great though!

She had her blood pressure checked, which was fun- especially since she does mine and Adam's at home with her doctor kit. We had an eye exam which she passed with flying colors. After the nurse left, the dr came in and she asked Ava a few questions, had her do a few things, checked her out and gave her a thumbs up! I was very proud of Ava for answering the dr.'s questions. She usually clams up when someone asks her a question, but she answered the dr without hesitation (thank you Disney jr and Doc McStuffins!) Poor thing was about to be rewarded by a bunch of shots.

Ava was scheduled for 4 shots (which I had already told her, but we added a 5th one for the flu in there. Now before you go and think I'm a mean ole mama, the doctor (and I agreed) said she wouldn't know the difference between 4 & 5 shots- and she was right, after she left I gave Ava some Tylenol to help with what was about to come- she was so brave and did exactly as the nurse instructed- but it isn't ever fun watching your child's face as you stand by and let someone stab them with a needle!!

I can't tell you enough how proud I was of her! She cried, but she only cried for a short time and had stopped by the time we left the room. When we made it back to the car she called her daddy to tell him all about it and of course we both acted like she was Wonder Woman and it was so cool to have gotten 5 shots!! After talking to dad she called Gigi and told her all about it as well- anything to make her feel better!!

Her stats from this visit were 40 lbs (75%) and 43.5" (an inch taller than the 95%- AN INCH!!!) I'm not sure what we are going to do if she keeps at this pace! ;) The doctor said she was just perfect and I said, well of course!! ;)

On our way home we picked up some cupcakes, since we all know that cupcakes make everything better and she was sound asleep before we made it home- it just didn't last from the car to the house- she was too concerned about that cupcake! Ha!! Fortunately we were able to tell Ava that she doesn't have to get any more shots until 12. So hopefully she isn't forever scarred by this visit!

You really make it seem really easy with your presentation however I to find this topic to be really one thing that I think I'd by no means understand. It kind of feels too complicated and extremely wide for me. I'm looking forward in your next put up, I'll try to get the hold of it!
