Football Season

Our Friday nights have been spent under the lights. We have been going to my alma mater's football games. Fortunately the weather has be perfect- I even got a little cool at one  of them so I started to bring a sweater- and it makes me soooo happy!!

Ava has enjoyed watching everything and at the last home game a sweet lady sat behind us and gave her candy, a football, and a pom-pom. I'm pretty sure she isn't going to want to sit by anyone else at any of the future games.

At home we have had fun playing with Ava's Legotown ;) I bought these green 10x10 sheets and I am going to paint a board and glue them to it so we can easily move everything around, right now they are just sitting on top of her table.

We have also had family competitions involving a certain wooden block game. I picked Jenga up the other day thinking it would be something Ava could play with us and Adam and I also enjoy it. Most adult games (no- I'm not talking about those kind- get your minds out of the gutter!) aren't games she can play, so this is a perfect compromise. I am currently  undefeated :)

Our Sundays have been spent at Everbank Field, rooting on our beloved Jaguars. The weather has been about like they have played- crappy! It has rained and been hot at both home games thus far. And we have lost- bad. But we still have fun (and by we, I'm referring to the girls of the group- the guys are too upset about the game...). They recently redid the section under our seats- these boards are actually painted on the concrete- pretty cool huh?

Sonya Richards-Ross was at the game and since she just won an Olympic Gold medal, they were honoring her and she was signing autographs. Ava and I went and stood in this line...

Still going....until we were about 5 away from her table and she stopped signing. I can't tell you how upset I was :(

Last Friday night, ESPN came to Yulee High School and showed the game on ESPN U, so Jenny, Jason, Adam, and myself decided to go check it out. We left the kids with grandparents and made it a date (maybe it brought back memories of being in HS going to the game...made us feel young again...). We got to the game 2 hours before it started and fortunately we were able to get seats. We sat on the visitors side, but with it being standing room only, there wasn't a clear home/visitor section. I've never seen so many people at a HS football game. I felt like I was in Dillon, Texas watching the Panthers, and couldn't help but think I was going to see Coach Taylor walking around ;)

You can't fathom by the pictures just how many people were there. We have heard 6,000 and we have heard close to 10,000- I'm not sure which one is more accurate, but either way, its a lot for a HS football game!

Fred Taylor's son was playing for the opposing team, so he was there, as well as a few other current Jaguars players (Cecil Shorts, Justin Blackmon, and

Judging by their play on the field on Sunday, they should have been practicing instead of hanging out a HS football game!

Will Muschamp (head coach for the gators) was also there.

Sunday was a big day for the Jaguars- not particularly on the field, but Fred Taylor was inducted into the Pride of the Jaguars.

There were a lot of former Jaguar players that came to support him.

I wish I had brought my camera so we could have gotten some nice pictures, but it was supposed to rain a majority of the game so I didn't want to risk it getting wet and messed up. So cell phone pics will have to do.

Fortunately it didn't rain until the very end of the game and Jenny, Mom, Ava, and myself saw it coming so we headed towards the truck. We made it underneath the stands and the bottom fell out, so we had to walk in the rain all the way to our parking spot. I think most of us stayed dry, except mom wore jeans (why?!) and then it had stopped raining briefly as we walked through the parking garage and she took off her poncho. Jenny and I were smart and kept ours on. We also managed to keep the guys posters of Freddy T dry. (We are such great wives!). Ava decided she wanted to walk in the rain and splash in all of the puddles so what the heck- we let her :) It was better than carrying her the whole way back! We were waiting in the dry truck when the guys finally made it...I don't know what it is, but Adam can't leave a game until the clock says 00:00...if the Jags keep playing the way they have been, he is going to have to get over that! :)
