Ava at 4-years-old

Ava, you are officially 4 years old now! This past year has been an exciting one! We have left a lot of the baby-isms behind and moved on to ‘Big girl’ things. You have taken your independence to a whole new level. You insist on doing everything yourself and there are times you really don’t understand why I insist on doing it for you, you are hard-headed, like your daddy (and if I was completely honest- she gets a little from me). You also try to be such a helper, which at your age, usually tends to be not-so-helpful, but the only way you will get better is for me to allow you to help and learn.

You are 43.5” tall and weigh 40 lbs. You have officially reached the limit and we have been given the okay to let you ride in booster seats, but we are going to keep you in a 5-point harness as long as possible- its so much safer. You do however, ride in one if your daddy or papa take you anywhere around our little town, only because speeds never get above 30 mph .  You wear some 4T but we have moved mostly to 5T because you are just so tall! You wear size 11 shoes and are growing like a weed! Your hair is also starting to grow and you love it! You like to wear your hair up in a ponytail and ask me all the time to pull it up for you. Most of it will go into one, but some of the sections in the front aren’t quite long enough, but you are so proud, we don’t ever make a big deal out of it!

You go to school 2 days a week. You are actually in the 4-year-old VPK class, but you aren’t technically VPK since your birthday falls after September 1st. You miss it by 4 days. You like being in the ‘big class’ as you call it- because it is so much older and better than the 3-year-old class you were in last year!

You have really gotten to be a homebody- you would just rather stay home and play than do anything else- which is usually okay by me, but there are times when I need to run errands or we have to go somewhere and you will plum pitch a fit because you don’t want to go anywhere outside of Callahan. This is so unlike me or your daddy and I’m really hoping it is just a phase!

Your imagination is growing leaps and bounds. You love playing with your girl Legos and playing with your baby dolls. You have started talking about a baby sister- it must be something you are picking up at school, but what is funny is when I ask you if you did something or to clean up something you got out- you tell me your baby sister did it! haha!

You like being a princess, and some type of dress-up is always happening around our house. You also like to dance and sing, thank goodness your daddy plays guitar all the time- you always have something to sing and dance along with!

Along with getting older, you have also added some attitude to the mix. Yes, we have already reached the rolling of the eyes, sassiness that I wasn’t expecting for several more years. You also say phrases like, ‘Seriously?!’ and ‘Well, that was awkward!’. As hard as it is to believe you are already 4, sometimes its equally as hard to believe you are only 4 by the way you act and talk. Your daddy and I love talking to you and having conversations- you are such a young person to have such great conversations!
