Ava Elisabeth: Christmas Day

Christmas Day

After our little family Christmas, we head over to Nana's for Christmas breakfast. Ava had been running a fever the night before and we could tell she wasn't quite herself but she didn't act bad enough to stay home. By the time breakfast was over she was tired and was trying to keep herself awake for presents.

Look at those sleepy sleepy eyes, she was so tired! By the day's end she had taken about 2 30 min naps- it was a long day for this little one.

Even with cutting the morning visit to mom's out of our day, we still have 3 stops to make on Christmas. By the time we were opening presents at my mom's house with her side of the family Ava was about to fall out. She actually sat in my lap for most of the time and kept laying her head down on my leg. I tried to lay her down to put her to sleep but she was fighting it- she wanted to be awake and in the midst of it all the whole time.

She liked the Mickey and Minnie wrapping paper her presents were wrapped in and she isn't much of an unwrapper- I think its too disorderly for her- haha! She would take a piece off and lay it to the side and continue to do that, with each piece, placing it in a pile- so neat and a little OCD.... I think by the end of the night after she had unwrapped several toys, she realized that presents were a good thing and started ripping the paper a little better- either that, or she was just too tired to care :)
Ava loves Mickey Mouse! Last Christmas Aunt Robin bought her Minnie and it was bigger than she was. This year, Aunt Robin bought her Mickey Mouse and this time- Ava is bigger than he is :)

One of the traditions of our family at Christmas is the Money Drop. Basically a pile of coins are placed in the middle and when someone says go, we have to grab one coin at a time with one hand. Then we count the money to see who wins- and of course, we get to keep the money. Once we have kids they are supposed to take over, but Ava was obviously too young last year and this year we were going to let her try, but she fell asleep right before we played. So I had to continue filling in for her.

Christmas was good this year- it always comes and goes too fast- but if it didn't, I am afraid it wouldn't be Christmas. We left our house at 10:00 that morning and didn't return until 8:00 that evening, so we were all very tired. Ava had a great day and I know that she is going to be enjoying all of her toys she received this year, now we just have to invest in a large storage shed so we have a place to put them all - HaHa!!!
