July 4th

Our July 4th weekend was pretty low-key. We had friends over on Friday night and Adam set up the projector and screen outside and the guys watched the race.

 

Ava, Trevor, and Brody swam a good part of the night, which as a parent- we all know what that means- a good nights sleep :)

I’m always amazed at how much boys love to get in the pink car :) Its so funny! At one point, Brody and Trevor tried to both sit in it!

 

Kyle had brought his drums over earlier and they had been playing- of course Adam is always ready and willing to play- so Ava, Brody, and Trevor decided to start a “Drums Only” band. I told Jason and Jenny they needed to get the boys a drum set for Christmas :) 

All three of them had a good (and very loud) time playing- However, I am sure that everyone is glad they didn’t discover them until the night was almost over- haha!

 

Sunday we went to church and Monday, July 4th we relaxed in the pool. I would say by the pool, but with the Florida weather, the only way to stand it is to actually be in the pool.

Later in the day we headed to Coldstone in Fernandina for ice cream, but decided not to stick around for fireworks since Ava isn’t exactly crazy about them. So we headed home and did our set of sparklers.

We had to be very careful since it had been so dry  and we really weren’t supposed to be doing any- but we stood right next to the pool so sparks wouldn’t be an issue. Ava enjoys these types of fireworks- but as soon as they start making loud noises- you can forget it.

It was a nice weekend and perfectly relaxing, which is such a nice way to spend a holiday when I feel like we are constantly running a rat race. I should also add that Adam made us watch 13 hours (not at once, but over the course of a week or so) of a documentary of the Revolutionary war. I learned quite a bit, but 13 hours? Come on Adam! :) There were several nights it put Ava to sleep – haha!
